{"item":{"status":"visible","url":"\/2012\/03\/06\/iran-military-conflict\/","trash":"","name":"iran-military-conflict","parent":"","title":"Military conflict with Iran - Letter to Congress and the President","date":"2012-03-06 15:50:45","filepath":"posts\/20001378_iran-military-conflict.xml.json","type":"post","content":"<img class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-802\" style=\"margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\" title=\"congress\" src=\"http:\/\/www.8bitrobot.com\/media\/uploads\/2011\/11\/congress.png\" alt=\"congress\" width=\"102\" height=\"54\" \/>The following is a letter sent to my\u00a0Representative, Senators, and the President (Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, and Obama). \u00a0It simply states the US should not attack Iran over this nuclear crisis and the US should not be swayed by the importunities of Israel.\n<blockquote>I urge you to not go to war\/conflict with Iran, no matter how motivated our leaders in D.C. are. \u00a0Unless there is world wide agreement (by the UN) on military action in Iran, the US should not be performing any more unilateral preemptive attacks. \u00a0There are many other freedom loving countries around the world that can play the hero.\n\nIsrael (Netanyahu, Peres, etc...) will do it's best to pull the US into war with Iran. \u00a0That is not our conflict. \u00a0So, please disregard any pledges or oaths you have taken in regards to Israel and do not bend to the warmongers in the region. \u00a0There is no true urgency and sanctions will be effective. \u00a0Do not listen to the lobbyists.\n\nMy wife and I have recently had our first child, which makes it even more important we change this war like mindset in our leadership. \u00a0My son deserves a better world and we should do our best to make it a peaceful one... \u00a0Let's start here at home.\n\nThe US has been in far too many illegitimate military conflicts. \u00a0Please look towards the future and resist the perpetual momentum for warfare.\n\nAlso, do not respond to this message saying military action is required to keep nuclear arms out of the hands of rogue groups. \u00a0Pakistan has had the bomb for a while with no incident. \u00a0That excuse is a vacuous scare tactic used to manipulate the American populace.\n\nIn short, if Israel wants to start a war, let them but do NOT support them for any acts of unjustified aggression. \u00a0The US does support allies, but every alliance has its limits.\n\nThank you,\n[REDACTED]\n\nP.S. You can assume my stance on Syria is similar. \u00a0Unless there is world wide agreement, we have no business attacking the country. \u00a0I agree the situation is dire, but the US is not obligated to play the hero. \u00a0There are many other nations of the world that can help.<\/blockquote>\nIf there is a response, it will be posted... Although, there might be a delay since sleep is a rare thing for parents when it comes to newborns...\n\n<strong>Update (2012.03.09):<\/strong> President Obama responded to the letter with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.8bitrobot.com\/2012\/03\/09\/obamas-iran-respsonse\/\">generic canned response<\/a>."}}
