{"item":{"status":"visible","url":"\/2011\/10\/17\/wood-working-magic-nail\/","trash":"","name":"wood-working-magic-nail","parent":"","title":"Wood working: Magic nail","date":"2011-10-17 11:36:08","filepath":"posts\/2000706_wood-working-magic-nail.xml.json","type":"post","content":"Here's a new wood working project (experiment) on my list. \u00a0I've never tried to warp wood like this and it looks like fun.\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UqFz2Gxa9_w\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The steps appear to be:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Cut 3 slits in a block of wood (about 1 inch wide)<\/li>\n\t<li>Boil water and soak the end of the block so that one tooth is submerged. \u00a0For how long? \u00a0Probably 5 minutes...<\/li>\n\t<li>Take the block out of the water and squeeze the single tooth with a vice until it is flat.<\/li>\n\t<li>Let the block stay in the vice for 2 days to harden.<\/li>\n\t<li>Take the block out and drill a hole through the two middle teeth.<\/li>\n\t<li>Insert a long nail.<\/li>\n\t<li>Put the block back into boiling water (the smashed tooth side).<\/li>\n\t<li>Set the block aside for 2 days to harden back into the original position.<\/li>\n\t<li>Sand everything until it looks pretty.<\/li>\n\t<li>Step back and wonder why you did this. \u00a0Smile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>"}}
